Our target market love watching sport. But when Covid struck and lockdown paused virtually every sport in the world, how would our fans get their sporting fix when there's literally nothing going on? Introducing Red or Black LIVE. 

​

With a cleint desperate for an immediate response to the problem, I created a quick and simple content series to appear across their social channels. Here, fans and followers could get their sporting fix with a simple Red or Black betting mechanic (just for fun).

​

Whether it was seeing which toaster was the fastest, which cake a fly would land on or which car parking space would be filled, the aim was to take mundane, everyday events and turn them into the most exciting, thrilling sporting events ever broadcast. We'd use commentators to bring the action to life and use lots of quick cuts, slick graphics and camera angles to make it feel like a real sporting spectacular.

From writing the treatments and the actual commentator scripts to working remotely with the director to film, edit and mix the films, doing this over lockdown proved challenging, but these were some of the funnest scripts i've written (and some of my finest pun work for years).

 

It was a real team effort to get these done over those initial lockdown days. Plus, it was a lot of fun working with Phil Cornwell (Big Train/Alan Partridge to name a few) who, incredibly, did both the commentators voices - at the same time.

Here are the first three films. Each event had a 15" trailer and then we put up the final film a few days later.
